Smile Makeover Competition Winners
- Hi, my name is Rosa and I am 40 years old. As a child I was neglected and had bad nutrition so my teeth did not have a good start, by the time I was 14 my teeth had decayed, I had infection after infection that would completely swell my face . When I felt pregnant with my first child I suffered severe calcium deficiency and the few teeth I had left crumbled. As and when I could afford it, I started having my teeth removed. I started with a partial acrylic denture but always suffered with gum sores, (good old bongela!). Only last year I had my final upper teeth removed, well I still have one right at the back that had root canal and a crown and since it doesn’t bother me, I didn’t have it removed. I now have a full acrylic upper denture, that I only use if I have to leave the house, not only does it cause sores but also makes me gag, I have given up on it because despite numerous visits to the dental technician there is no improvement. My lower teeth have had more fillings than I can remember and are next on the list to be removed. I wish I could afford to have a smile and not be ashamed to be out in public.
